Victoria Falls

The Falls are one of the most spectacular and memorable sights in the world. The Zambezi river widens to 1 700 meters at the falls and then plunges down a chasm 70 to 110 meters deep across its entire width. The force of the falling water - estimated at around 545 million litres per minute during the rainy season - sends clouds of spray up to 500 meters into the sky and sustains a lush rainforest all around.The spray gave rise to the falls' African name, Mosi-oa-Tunya (or "smoke that thunders").

Victoria was the name given to the falls by a Scottish missionary, David Livingstone, in 1855.

Things to see and do in Victoria Falls:
The Victoria Falls are, of course, the premier attraction.
It's also worth a walk along the Zambezi river from the Livingstone Statue past the Big Tree (a giant baobab) to the Zambezi National Park entrance, but watch out for wildlife; warthogs, hippopotamus, crocodiles, antelope, and even elephants, buffaloes, and lions are often observed.
Not far from the park entrance is Spencer Creek Crocodile Farm with 5 000 assorted crocodiles.
Back in town, the Falls Craft Village is worth a visit.
